Not an easy machine to master - but well worth the effort ! I dived straight in at the deep end as this is my first espresso machine. ( always did like a challenge) It nearly went on ebay a few times, but now I've learnt to 'play it' ( others have compared its operation to playing a violin - horrible at first, but beautiful when mastered) I wouldn't think of changing it. It even comes on holiday with me ( well once anyway) The degree of control you have is satisfying.
