La Pavoni Lever Coffee Machines

Q1. The ON/OFF light on the switch does not turn on.
A. Turn the switch on. Make sure the plug cable is properly inserted into the power socket. If you have tried these instructions and the problem is not solved please contact our repair service.

Q2. The light ON/OFF switch is lit and the water does not heat up.
A. If you have turned your machine on, waited for the lights to go off and you are still unable to obtain hot water, please contact our repair service.

Q3. During the delivery no coffee comes through.
A. First check the amount of coffee in the filter basket. If you have over filled it with coffee it is very likely no coffee will come through so try using slightly less coffee.
Experiment with coffee grinds, if you are using a fine grind it will be very hard for water to penetrate the coffee. Replace the coffee used with a coarser grind. Make sure you do not tamp the coffee too firmly.

Q4. The coffee is delivered too fast
A. Make sure you are using good quality coffee which is preferably freshly ground. Freshly ground coffee will always guarantee you the best results. Coffee ground too coarsely will pass through the machine too quickly, and vice versa.

Q5. The coffee is delivered in drops
A. If your coffee is delivered in drops the first thing to check is the amount of coffee added to the filter holder, if you have added too much coffee or it is too fine it will be very difficult for water to penetrate. Please refer to Q3 above.

Q6. There is coffee leaking between the brew head and the filter-holder
A. Make sure the filter holder is correctly inserted in to the brew head. Do not overload the filter basket with coffee. Remove any coffee from the edge of the filter basket. Clean the brew head using a coffee brush. You can also clean the coffee grounds off the brew head by lifting the handle without the filter holder being inserted.

Q7. There is no crema on my espresso
A. To obtain a good cup of coffee it is important to use good quality coffee, well roasted and correctly ground. Experiment with the coffee grind. If the grind is too coarse the coffee will come through too quickly giving you no crema. If the grind is too fine the coffee will take longer to come through and will be dark and strong with a little crema. Whenever possible use freshly ground coffee. Never overload your filter basket.

Q8. The coffee delivered is too cold
A.Please make sure the accessories such as filter holder and the coffee cups are warm. To heat up the filter holder; lock it into the brew head and run water through it before making your coffee.

You can also heat the cups by adding hot water before making your espresso. If you have tried these suggestions and still unable to achieve warm enough coffee, check that the water is at the correct temperature by seeing that steam is delivered by opening the steam arm.

We recommend that you descale your machine annually. If you need further information please contact our repair service.

Q9. The machine does not deliver steam
A. Check that the machine has reached the correct pressure. Please wait for the green light to switch off (Europiccola) if you have a professional machine please make sure the pressure needle has reached the green area. If the machine has reached the correct pressure and you still unable to obtain steam, please check the holes of the steam pipe, they could be clogged up. You can clean the holes with a needle; wipe it clean with a damp cloth afterwards. If you are still unable to obtain steam please contact our repair service.
