Elektra – Three Generations of Italian Espresso Machine Tradition
The Elektra brand was founded in1947, in Cortina D'Ampezzo. Located in the heart of the Dolomites in an alpine valley in northern Italy, the Fregnan family demonstrated the prototype of their first production lever espresso machine.
The company name comes from the Greek ‘elektron’, meaning ‘a shining object’. It was adopted in honour of the great Italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi, who invented radio, and called his famous lab-ship (and later also his daughter) ‘Elettra’.
In 1950 the Fregnan family moved Elektra production to its present location in Treviso.
Elektra’s philosophy has been influenced by the history and geography of Treviso. A fascinating northern Italian city, rich in cultural heritage, where traditional craftsmanship is perfectly integrated with modern high technologies.
Since the company’s foundation in 1947, all Elektra machines have been individually hand built using the traditional skill and expertise of Italian craftsman.
Three generations of the Fregnan family continue to ensure that Elektra machines offer the best quality of manufacture, excellent coffee brewing and absolute customer satisfaction.
Andrea Fregnan, who graduated in engineering in 1983, currently designs innovative and sophisticated coffee machines for Elektra. With many international patents and exclusive models registered under his name, he is an expert in coffee machine trends and developments.
